Yep, this is the time of year where you will be inundated with a thousand different Thanksgiving and holiday recipes, and a zillion different ways to cook a turkey.

Breast up, breast down, in a paper bag, in a deep fryer, in a plastic bag, and a zillion other tricks I’ve never even heard of. New recipes pop up every year. And I’ve tried many of them. But regardless of how to cook the turkey, which method and for how long, there’s one thing that I rely on every year to give the bird the most impeccable flavor.

It used to be my secret, but ever since they discontinued it (or at least I haven’t been able to find it my local Trader Joe’s,) I had to improvise, so I started sharing the recipe.

The Trader Joe’s poultry rub is the only thing you should EVER season a turkey with, or a chicken for that matter. I tried a thousand different combinations to try to re-create it and I finally have the recipe down.

So whether you used the Trader Joe’s rub before and can’t find it in stores anymore, or you never tried it, here, in all it’s glory, I bring you the recipe. Use this and thank me profusely on Friday morning.

Directions:

In a bottle Combine 1 tsp of each of these ingredients and shake very well.

Ingredients:

  • Sea salt
  • Garlic flakes
  • Roasted onion flakes (or plain dehydrated onion)
  • Sugar
  • Paprika
  • Page
  • Marjoram
  • Thyme
  • Rosemary
  • Parsley
  • Dried lemon zest
  • Black pepper
  • Lemon juice
  • Sunflower seed oil (or canola oil)

That's it! Spray turkey with oil spray, sprinkle rub on liberally, let sit for half hour and cook turkey with your desired method.
