UPPER DEERFIELD — New Jersey State Police engaged in gunfire outside an Upper Deerfield home early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Police spokesman Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams said police were responding to a 911 hang-up call. One person was struck by gunfire and was being treated for the injury. Police were not injured, according to Williams. The incident was over around 12:30 a.m., according to Williams.

The incident remains under investigation according to Williams, who did not disclose the identities of anyone involved in the incident or any additional details on what preceded the gunfire.

The Office of the Attorney General's Police Shooting Response Team will also investigate the incident, police said.
