HILLSIDE — A Central Jersey Shop Rite has issued a recall for ground beef sold at its store on Friday.

According to news release, the ground beef sold at the ShopRite on Route 22 in Hillside on Friday may have small pieces of metal in it because of a problem with a meat grinder.

The recall is for regular size packages of 80,85 and 93% lean ground beef plus 80 and 85 percent family size ground beef, all with a sell-by date of May 12.

“We are advising customers who purchased any of these products at the ShopRite of Hillside to return them for an immediate refund or replacement,” ShopRite spokeswoman Karen Meleta said in a statement, adding that no injuries related to the recall have been reported.

Price Plus members have already been alerted, according to Meleta.

The Hillside store is the only one affected.
