An electrical fire at the Sears inside the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne has closed the store today.

Heavy, thick smoke poured out of the roof of the store when firefighters arrived around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday night according to the Patch of Wayne. “The smoke was so thick on the second floor firefighters couldn’t see their hands in front of their faces,”  Fire Commissioner Steve Toth told the  Patch . “They had to crawl on their hands and knees to locate where the fire was burning.”

Firefighters had to pump water out of the area under the store where the transformers are located before they could shut them down and start fighting the fire.Later they brought in fans to help vent the smoke out of the store.

PSE+G tells the Patch they will not restore electrical service to the store until the electrical distribution system is fixed.
