New York City Mayor DeBlasio is asking protest leaders to hold off on demonstrations against police until two officers killed in an ambush Saturday can be buried. The first funeral will be held Saturday at a church in queens. Protest leaders say they won't stop the protests while the funerals are held.DeBlasio says he will sit down with police union leaders if they want to talk.  The union has accused the mayor of creating the climate of mistrust that led to the officers' murder.

Many are on edge after this weekend's murders of two New York City police officers. The head of the New Jersey State police says troopers are constantly working to make sure relations with the public are solid.

An eight-year-old boy had to be flown to a burn unit after a waitress spilled boiling water on him.  It happened at the Olive Garden on route 18 in East Brunswick.  The waitress dumped water from a teapot on the boys legs, severely burning him.  He remains in the St Barnabas burn unit this morning, but doctors have not updated his condition.

Just in time for Christmas, a lot of Jersey residents are getting sick and it turns out the Influenza virus that's circulating widely has mutated, which means flu shots can only offer limited protection at best.

Two volunteer fire fighters rescued a baby trapped in a burning minivan on the Parkway.  It happened near exit 74 in Lacey Township before lunchtime Monday.  The mother had crashed the van and it erupted into flames.  The fire fighters busted into the van and they got the baby out of a car seat.

There is no sign Cuba will release a cop killer wanted in New Jersey since the 70's.  The Cuban government says it has the right to grant asylum to U.S. fugitives.  Since President Obama's surprise announcement of normalized relations with Cuba, there has been pressure on him to demand the release of Joanne Chesimard.  As of this morning, that seems unlikely.

Governor Christie says that proves Cuba has no plans to change and takes issue with the words being to describe the longtime fugitive. On NJN Christie again called the deal the president struck with the Castro regime "awful."

Christie has been raising his profile on foreign affairs as he considers a run for president.  In the scene of presidential politics, New Jersey is not that important.  Good for Christie because another poll has him trailing Hillary Clinton by double digits here, should he run.  In the Rutgers poll, almost two thirds of you expect he will.

The NBA commissioner is hoping Christie will help legalize sports betting all across the nation.  Christie repealed a ban in New Jersey but Commissioner Adam Silver tells ESPN he hopes Christie will take the fight to Washington.

A new poll does not hold a lot of optimism that a new congress next year will change Washington or the country, very much for the better.

The U.S. will not admit it but it's widely believed our cyber warriors are to blame for a total internet outage in North Korea.  Their on-line services started to come back on-line last night.  A state department spokesman was asked about retaliation for the recent Sony hack and would only say, "as we implement our response, some will be seen.  Some may not."

We told you about vandalism at the 9-11 memorial in West Windsor. Police have now arrested a man in Georgia for it.  Daniil Strukov faces multiple charges for defacing the memorial but investigators are not saying what prompted the vandalism.

If you're waiting until literally the very last-minute to do your holiday shopping, you won't be completely out of options on Christmas eve and Christmas day, as long as you take the right route.

New Jersey residents are not very giving of their time.  New figures show we have among the worst volunteer rates in the nation.  Less than a quarter of us give out time to charity.  But we are good neighbors.  When it comes to helping someone on our street, we have among the highest rates of giving a hand.

It looks like a tax hike of some kind will be coming according to the top democrats in the legislature. They say the state needs a lot of money to replenish the almost bankrupt transportation trust fund and it has to come from somewhere.

If it seems to you like the rich keep getting richer and everybody else keeps losing ground, you're right.  Yet another new study confirms Jersey's income gap continues to get wider.

When it comes to financial security, women are more pessimistic than men.

Corporate raider Carl Ichan is giving himself an out in Atlantic City.  He has promised twenty-million to keep the Taj Mahal afloat through the end of the year, but has backed out on a promise to pump one hundred-million into the gaming hall for the long term. The deal is not off, but some tricky issues have to be negotiated during ongoing bankruptcy proceedings.

An elderly south Jersey man has been sentenced to community service for shooting protected hawks from the back door of his Somers Point home.  70-year old Robert Losasso violated international treaties that protect the hawks as they migrate from Canada.
