CAMDEN — A man accused of killing a couple during a robbery in their home has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter charges.

The plea came as a jury deliberated murder charges against Gary Johnson.

Camden County prosecutors say the Camden man admitted Thursday to fatally shooting John Valerio, 23, and his fiancee, Aleshia Hill, 25, in their Camden home in April 2016. Johnson faces a 15-year sentence for each count when he's sentenced April 26.

Police found their bodies when officers responded to reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Both victims were suffering from gunshot wounds, while Hill also suffered blunt force trauma injuries to her head.

Prosecutors have said Johnson and Valerio had worked at the same company and often spoke with each other. They say the couple's cellphones and some cash, as well as Hill's engagement ring, were stolen.
