Fire crews responded Wednesday evening to the blaze at the property, where construction has been going on across from the main campus in Hackettstown. Frigid temperatures and winds made their work more difficult. Flames shot from the roof of the building almost two hours after the fire was reported.

College spokeswoman Annamaria Lalevee told The Express-Times newspaper in Easton, Pennsylvania, that the building is called the President's House and is used by the college but not as a residence.

Authorities said no one was in the building at the time.
