Authorities say a body was pulled from the water at a state park in West Milford Friday morning.

The body was discovered at the Long Pond Ironworks State Park, also known as “the Mine Hole," at about 11:45 a.m., according to a statement released late Saturday by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes. The prosecutor said her office was notified of the discovery by NJ State Police.

After the body was discovered, recovery teams went in and were able to pull the person from the water at about 4 p.m., the prosecutor said.

The Mine Hole is located in the Hewitt section of West Milford.

Police have not yet released the victim's identity or any additional details regarding the individual or the exact circumstances surrounding the death.

"At this time the investigation is ongoing and active. Further details will be provided as they become available," the prosecutor said in a statement.
