This year I pledged to do something not only for the show but something that the audience can relate to and get behind. So every Friday is known as #BlueFriday. #BlueFriday is where we celebrate a NJ police officer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help others.

This week's #BlueFriday honoree is a Florence police officer Nathan Tompkins who was off-duty in Hamilton when he saw another vehicle roll through an intersection, according to police.

Tompkins got out of his car and chased the other vehicle on foot until catching up with it and stopping it by opening the door and applying the brakes. See the footage of the scene below.

The driver, slumped behind the wheel, had overdosed on heroin. With the help of a Hamilton officer who appeared on the scene, Tompkins performed first aid. Tompkins then administered a dose of Narcan to the driver.

The driver regained consciousness and was later taken to a local hospital.

We want to make Florence Officer Nathan Tompkins this week's #BlueFriday honoree for going above and beyond the call of duty. Officer Tompkins saved the life of the driver and prevented injury to anyone nearby.
