BRICK — Four police officers fired their service weapons, killing a 32-year-old man who'd assaulted both a woman and her mother in a township home early Sunday morning, authorities say.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, in a statement put out late Monday, said when four officers arrived at a home on Meridian Drive early Sunday, police had already received seven 911 calls — six reporting a domestic disturbance and one reporting a domestic assault taking place at the home.

And it said multiple people — adults and children — had been in the home during the domestic assault, including a 31-year-old victim who fled through a bedroom window to a neighbor's house for help. Both that woman and her 59-year-old mother had been assaulted by Keshawn Wilson, the prosecutor's office said.

It didn't specify their relationship to Wilson.

When police arrived, Wilson was armed with a handgun. His encounter with police resulted "in the officers discharging their service weapons," the prosecutor's office said. It wasn't clear from the information released late Monday who fired first, but the prosecutor's office said Wilson fired multiple rounds "during the course of events."

No officers were struck, but all four were transported to a hospital for evaluation, the prosecutor's office said.

The prosecutor's office said the 31-year-old was the first person assaulted during the incident. She suffered lacerations and contusions to her head, eye and body, it said. She also was further hurt when she fell down stairs fleeing Wilson, the prosecutor's office said.

Another 31-year-old — the first woman's sister — had been in the house as well. That second 31-year-old's three children — ages 11, 7, and 11 months — were in the home as well, according to the prosecutor's office.

The prosecutor's office said "the (59-year-old) mother received injury to her head from the suspect after coming to the aid of (her) daughter."

The 59-year-old mother, the two 31-year-olds and the 11-month-old, barricaded themselves in a downstairs bedroom to seek refuge from Wilson until the 31-year-old assault victim escaped, the prosecutor's office said. A spokesman said the other two children — the 11-year-old and the 7-year-old — were in another room at the time.

The prosecutor's office hasn't released the names of any of those officers involved. It said more information wouldn't be provided Monday, but more details would be released as the investigation to continued.

This story has been updated to reflect clarifications by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
