POINT PLEASANT — A young boy continues to recover from being hit during an Ocean County Halloween parade on Sunday.

Point Pleasant Police Captain Robert Lokerson said the 6-year-old boy, whose identity was not disclosed, was in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune on Monday morning.

Lokerson said the boy was walking with his mother along Bridge Avenue, a straight road, when he was struck by the wheel of a utility trailer being pulled by a pickup truck as it approached Barton Avenue.

"There's nothing to point out that the driver lost control of the vehicle," Lokerson said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

Lokerson could not specify which float was being pulled but said there were children and adults on the trailer at the time.
