Two men were killed and two others injured early Saturday in an overnight crash on the Garden State Parkway in Atlantic County.

State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn said that according to their preliminary investigation Darryl Thomas, 27, of Brooklyn, lost control of his 2016 Nissan Maxima at milepost 48.6 near Exit 48 for Port Republic around 12:53 a.m.

Thomas' car crossed from the left to the right lane, went through the guardrail and overturned several times as the car went down an embankment into a marsh.

Thomas and passenger Zachary Pearce, 22, of Jamaica, New York, were both killed after they were ejected from the car.

Passengers Lamarr Edwards, 22, and Derrell Shaw, 31, both also of Jamaica, were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, according to Flynn.

The U.S. Coast Guard and West Tuckerton Dive Team assisted with locating the victim in the marsh.

Flynn said the investigation is ongoing and the circumstances of the crash have not been determined.
