Call me a traditionalist but I do think it's appropriate when young people meet older people to address them as Mr. or Mrs. Not just appropriate, but incredibly important.

Especially when it's your daughter's boyfriend. You may have hear today that Elizabeth's boyfriend Charlie (the butcher) is headed to the States for the first time this summer. He'll be staying with us for a few days and will likely join my daughter on air for at least a segment or two. Thinking they can prepare some special met dishes at home and then feed the crew. Back to the original issue, the consensus from listeners and colleagues seemed to favor "Mr. Spadea" as the proper greeting...perhaps lasting at least through the first couple days...
