Remember when they used to be called pharmacies? You can’t really call them that anymore as Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid have become almost like convenience stores.

When Walgreens announced that it planned to buy almost two thousand Rite Aid's I thought “good news.” You gotta love a Walgreens! Walgreens has almost become like a supermarket to me especially since it’s open 24 hours. It’s the best to get a late night ice cream, popcorn, or even make up or cheap gift fix. Walgreens stores are generally bright, clean, well organized and carry everything.

Rite Aid, on the other hand seems like a poor man’s CVS or Walgreens. CVS is another absolute superstore, carrying almost anything and everything and if you find a 24 hour CVS near you it’s amazingly convenient!

But now I’m bummed because apparently there are going to be store closures. Most of the stores that will close are the rite aids that are too close to the Walgreens. But they will evidently be closing some Walgreens too, and one of my favorite stores to shop in is the Walgreens closest to me in West Long Branch.

The company has not yet announced which stores will be closed or how many of them will be in New Jersey, but if you are a Rite Aid or a Walgreens shopper look out. Your favorite drugstore maybe set to be shattered in the next year or two.The store closures will start next spring and be completed over 18 months. Walgreens operates more than 13,200 stores worldwide.
