Two people were killed in a collision Wednesday night on Route 545 in Bordentown, police said.

According to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, police were contacted via 911 on 12/2/15 at approximately 10:24 pm for a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 545 approximately a quarter-mile south of Clifton Mill Drive.

Police say a 2008 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on when its driver lost control and entered the southbound lane. The Hyundai then hit a 2003 Toyota Tundra — leading to the death of Hyundai driver Jocelyn Redding, 23, of Hamilton Township and passenger Nicholas Cooper, 26, of McGuire Air Force Base.

The operator of the Tundra, Jimmy Spears, 72, of Browns Mills was taken to Virtua Hospital of Mount Holly and treated for minor injuries and then released, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of this collision and asking anyone who saw it or has information about it to call Bordentown Township detectives at 609-298-4300, ext. 2130.
