A New Jersey high school teacher has been indicted on sexual assault charges involving a teenage boy.

Middlesex County prosecutors say John Angeline also faces charges of criminal sexual contact and child endangerment. The indictment was made public Wednesday.

Angeline has been an English teacher at South Plainfield High School since September 2008 and has taught in the district since September 2005.

Prosecutors say the assaults occurred on numerous occasions in South Plainfield from September 2010 to June 2013. Prosecutors say the boy was 15 when the assaults started, but none of them occurred at the high school.

Prosecutors have not said if the boy was one of Angeline's students.

A telephone number for the 41-year-old South Plainfield resident could not be located Wednesday. He remains free on $150,000 bail.
