Simple, tasty chocolate Easter eggs you can make with the kids
I seriously can’t remember the last time I stepped into the kitchen to bake a dessert. I’m not sure if it’s due to the fact that cookie and ice cream shops are in every shopping center nowadays, or I’ve just been too lazy.
But with Easter around the corner, I remembered a cool, fun egg-making activity a babysitter taught me and my sisters when we were kids.
Trust me, as someone who doesn’t celebrate Easter, I don’t get a lot of opportunities to make these, but I got in the mood to whip some up and make them for friends.
This is the most delicious “egg” you’ll ever eat. And it’s so simple. This fun chocolate dessert will beat any chocolate eggs out there. Certainly the store bought ones! You’ll be sure to have the best eggs in town.
Here’s what you need to know.
To make the eggs you will need:
- 2 packs of cook and serve chocolate pudding mix
- ½ stick of butter
- ½ cup milk
- 5 cups confectioners sugar
- 2 cups nut butter of your choice
- 4 cups chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons shortening
The first thing you need to do to make these eggs is combine the pudding with the butter and milk. You can use any milk of choice, so this recipe is completely diet-friendly.
When the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and add in the sugar and nut butter of your choosing.
Next you want to mold the mixture into egg shapes and place them into the fridge to set. While the chocolate settles you can melt the chocolate chips and shortening and stir until smooth.
Remove the egg shapes from the fridge and dip them into the chocolate mixture, making sure they are completely covered. You can decorate them with sprinkles, more chocolate or anything else you like.
This is a great activity to do with your kids if you want to let them make a dessert that results in a minimal mess.
