ShopRite thief takes 82-year-old woman’s wallet

TOMS RIVER — Police are asking the public for help identifying a man seen walking out of a ShopRite after a pickpocket pilfered a wallet from an 82-year-old woman.

Security footage captured the man, wearing eyeglasses and a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans, walking out of the Route 37 store without a shopping cart on Tuesday.

The woman said the wallet was removed from her cart about 2 p.m.

The man on footage is considered a person of interest, not a suspect.
