Plainfield Dad Found In Severe Beating Of Infant

A Plainfield man accused of severely beating his 3-month-old child has been arrested trying to make his escape.

Michael Bell, charged with aggravated assault  by the Union County Prosecutors Office, was found at Newark Penn Station on Saturday night trying to board a bus headed out of New Jersey according to WABC TV. He is being held at the Union County Jail without bail.

Additional charges are expected to be brought in the maltter.

Plainfield police responded to the Lee Place home around 10:35 p.m. Friday and found the infant, who was suffering from fractures and internal bleeding. The child remained hospitalized Saturday in grave condition.

Romankow says Bell fled the home after allegedly assaulting the child.
