People’s Express Making a Comeback? What’s Next?

When I traveled in the 80’s I always used People’s Express for as long as it was around. It was the ultimate no frills airlines that used to wheel a cash register down the aisle after the plane took off to collect your fares. They charged for everything which meant you HAD to pay for nothing after you got on. “Peanuts? That’ll be fifty cents” They charged for baggage which unfortunately other airlines adopted. Well now a proposed airline is bringing back the Peoples Express name.

This leads me to wonder what else I’d like to see come back. I miss “Two Guys from Harrison” I even remember the only appliance they ever sold “Vornado”  I never saw that brand again after Two Guys closed. (Great warranty, if you got a problem, we’ll take you to see Two guys from Newark;)   Remember Alexander’s? Actually I remember the big mural out from of the Paramus store more than I remember the actual store.

If we’re talking food, remember Burger Chef? Chicken Delight, or Carvel Ice Cream?  Father’s day is coming and I want a whale of a cake! What’s Father’s Day without Fudgie the Whale?  I’ll tell you what it is, a tie, that’s what.

Soon we will no longer be able to get gift cards in New Jersey.  I won’t even go there.
