Earlier this year we adopted a mixed breed little guy from a NJ rescue. He had been abandoned on the streets of Texas at only a few weeks old. We've given him a good home and part of caring for him is putting him through things you don't feel great about. One, neutering. Two, double dewclaw removal. Yeah I had never heard of it either. He is part Great Pyrenees and one of the traits of that breed is extra toes called dewclaws. He was born with one too many of those on his hind feed. They had to be surgically removed because they had no connective tissue.

He made it through his surgery fine and he came home with this beast of a cone collar around his head. It's officially called an Elizabethan collar but most will just call it a lampshade.

Here he is after the drugs wore off demanding answers from my wife. He accepted none of them.

His manhood stripped away, his back paws bandaged tight and this ridiculous contraption encasing his head at least he has the sun. By the way, do you notice how this is decorated? They put a cone on him that reads: UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Yes, he clearly didn't find it funny either.
