BRIDGETON — Police have arrested a juvenile in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old Davonte Lee in Cumberland County Friday.

The 17-year-old, whose name has not been released, was charged with homicide, according to a statement from the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

Police say that on Friday at 6:15 p.m. Lee, a Bridgeton resident, was sitting in a vehicle on Reeves Road in Bridgeton City when he was shot. The victim was transported to his sister's home in Tips Trailer Park. New Jersey State troopers and medical workers responded and transported Lee to Inspira Hospital in Vineland, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the juvenile was arrested by the US Marshall’s service Sunday following an investigation that led to charges of homicide and related offenses.

The Bridgeton Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office - Major Crimes Unit are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Cara Kahn at 609-381-3349.
