Son charged after decomposing body found in Bridgeton home

BRIDGETON — A South Jersey man has been charged with stabbing his father to death.

On Sunday, July 19, Bridgeton police received a call just after noon about a foul odor coming from a house on the 0-100 block of Fayette Street, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.

When police arrived, they found the body of an already decomposing male inside, later identified as Anthony Williams, 67, of Bridgeton.

Bridgeton homicide investigation leads to victim's son

Investigators identified the victim’s son, Anttoine Williams, 28, of Vineland, as the suspect, Webb-McRae said.

He was charged with first-degree purposeful homicide, knowing murder, possession of a weapon (a knife) for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and evidence tampering.

Prosecutors say evidence was tampered with after fatal stabbing

The prosecutor says Williams stabbed his father on or about July 15, and then tampered with evidence in an attempt to conceal the crime.
