TRENTON — A corrections officer at the Mercer County Correction Center and president of Mercer County PBA Local 167 was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman at a park.

Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said Donald Ryland, 44, took a woman to Cadwalader Park in his car on Oct. 6. Ryland allegedly chased the woman after she exited the vehicle, knocked her to the ground and assaulted her, according to Onofri. She was able to run to guards at a park security gate.

Onofri said the woman recognized Ryland's car, including the license plate, and called police. Hyland was arrested by Trenton Police shortly afterwards.

Ryland is charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault and is being detained.

Last Thursday, Northern State Prison prison guard Roberto Reyes-Jackon was arrested for providing the potent opioid fentanyl to an inmate.
