NJ Police-Involved Shooting Justified, Says Prosecutor
Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says he will not order a grand jury review of a police-involved fatal shooting of a robbery suspect.
Molinelli says three police officers were justified in their use of force when they opened fire and killed a man they suspected of robbing a northern New Jersey pharmacy at knifepoint on Nov. 25.
Police say the officers had confronted 47-year-old Rickey McFadden about two blocks from the CVS pharmacy in Leonia.
A fourth officer did not shoot. The officers involved were from Leonia and Palisades Park.
The Record reports that Molinelli says the police acted appropriately when the suspect allegedly wielded a knife and threatened an officer.
Police say a knife was recovered at the scene along with items taken from the store.
