New Jersey just redesigned its state flag and a bagel won

I want to start this by saying that I’m a born-and-raised Jersey girl.

I have my opinions on where to get the best bagels. I know it’s near mandatory to fold a pizza. And I sure as hell would prefer not to get out to pump my own gas (though, for the record, I think it should be an option).

While I’m filled to the brim with Jersey pride, I have the self-awareness to understand where we’re lacking as a state.

How can we improve New Jersey’s state flag?

Our state flag, even though we may not want to admit it, is pretty lame. Honestly, it looks like a first draft.

While I agree with the concept of “prosperity and liberty,” the rest of the flag could use a glow-up.

Researchers at Custom Made Casino put out a survey to find how people would redesign their state’s flag if given a chance, and I think the respondents hit the nail on the head for the Garden State.

Here’s what NJ residents want on the state flag

There are three things that New Jerseyans would prefer to have on our flag over the two ladies and a horse head:

3️⃣ A full-service gas pump

Whether we like it or not, we’re an anomaly in New Jersey with our inability to pump our own gas. It’s only fitting that this would be displayed on our flag.

2️⃣ Parkway toll tag

Hellish commutes to work, shore traffic, trying to get to New York, whatever reason you need the tag, it’s a perfect symbol of something we all have in New Jersey: frustration.

1️⃣ A New Jersey bagel

10/10. No notes. Of course we should have a bagel on our flag, we have the best in the nation.

I would prefer an image of my go-to order: toasted plain bagel with a generous amount of butter.
