In a jailhouse interview, Sui Kam “Tony” Tung  — the man convicted in December of shooting his wife's boyfriend in the head, then setting fire to his body on the bed where the couple consummated their affair — says the boyfriend wasn't romantic enough.

“It’s like a freaking dungeon,” Tung told The Record of the bedroom where the affair took place. “I was not offended, but I thought, ‘You took Sophie down here?’”

He continued, speaking of 59-year-old software engineer Robert Cantor: “They make good money. He can’t take you to a hotel?”

According to the Record, Tung granted the interview as part of a media push meant to keep the case in the public eye while he appeals his conviction. He was scheduled to be sentenced Friday.

In December guilty verdicts against Sui Kam “Tony” Tung  were delivered on 11 counts —  including murder, arson, weapons offenses, desecrating human remains, hindering apprehension by concealing or destroying a handgun and computer data, and stalking.

According to reports at the time, cheers erupted from the spectator’s gallery, where Cantor's family and friends were situated.

Authorities had no direct evidence in the case no weapon, no DNA and no fingerprints. But prosecutors presented circumstantial evidence and argued that Tung was the only person with the motive to kill Cantor in the way he did.
