Man Struck, Killed By NJ Transit Train
New Jersey Transit says a man was struck and killed by a train in northern New Jersey.
The accident occurred around 11:10 a.m. Monday, not far from the Morris Plains train station.
NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder says the engineer of the Dover-bound Morris & Essex line train saw 21-year-old Stanislav Kling-Loy of Morristown on the tracks and sounded the train's horn. The engineer also activated the emergency brakes, but could not stop the train in time.
Snyder said the accident did not occur near a gate crossing.
No one aboard the train was injured.
Trains on the Morris and Essex line were delayed about 30 to 45 minutes due to the accident, but those delays had eased by Monday afternoon.
