Man Sentenced For Illegal Weapons Sales in NJ
Federal prosecutors say a Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to two years in prison for illegally selling firearms and ammunition on multiple occasions in New Jersey.
Eduardo Velasquez of Reading will also have to serve three years of supervised release once he's freed under the sentence imposed Tuesday. The 63-year-old Velasquez had pleaded guilty to a complaint charging him with one count of illegally dealing in firearms.
Velasquez admitted traveling from Pennsylvania to Jersey City on five separate occasions over a three-month period in 2012 for the purpose of selling firearms. He sold 11 firearms overall to a New Jersey resident for more than $9,000.
Velasquez also sold multiple high-capacity magazines and more than 80 rounds of ammunition, including several hollow-point bullets.
