TOMS RIVER — Investigators on Monday returned to the scene of a suspected hit-and-run that killed a 45-year-old township resident on Christmas morning.

Police found Keith Elliott about 10:38 a.m. lying in the roadway at the corner of Highland Parkway and Herflicker Boulevard. Elliott was already dead.

The Messenger Street resident was on his way to the bus terminal on Highland in order to take a bus to visit family in Lacey.

Police said Elliot "had numerous visible injuries consistent with a vehicle hit and run."

Authorities did not say whether they have any suspects. Investigators on Monday were attempting to collect more evidence from surrounding businesses.
