The New Jersey Department of Transportation says new bridge beams are being put in as part of the replacement of the I-295 bridge over I-76, also referred to as the 42 Freeway.

One lane on I-295, in both directions, will be closed at 10 p.m. all week. Drivers should expect all lanes to be closed for 15 minutes at a time during overnight hours, until 6 a.m.

The work is part of the Direct Connection project, which began in March, which will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42. The project has been divided into four separate construction contracts, with completion of the fourth and final contract expected in the fall of 2021.
