Peter Genovese had a fun assignment. He found every breakfast cereal sold on New Jersey store shelves and sampled them, then ranked them from worst to best. That's a LOT of cereal. There were over 100 of them. What was the one he liked the best? Something I never heard of. Nature's Path Love Crunch dark chocolate macaroon. Whaaaat? Don't think he is some cereal snob. Also making his top 10 were Frosted Flakes, Trix, and Froot Loops. You know, the fun stuff.

One of the worst according to Peter? Also something I never heard of. Take a look at number 87 and what he wrote about it:

One Degree Veganic Sprouted Ancient Maize Flakes
"First of all, no cereal should have a name this long. And "veganic'' is a word? It means organic farming done without the use of animal manure, bodies or parts. The cereal boasts an off-putting corn taste. One Degree is all about "honest traceable foods.'' They might want to work "edible'' in there somewhere."

So we had some fun with this. We asked our listeners what their favorite cereal was, or if they no longer ate cereal, what it was when they were a kid. Here are some of their answers.

Eric called in to say he loved Kabooms. It was the one with some creepy clown staring you down from the box. Clown phobia anyone? Best part of Kabooms...they float.

Caleb said they used to make Rice Krispie Treats cereal. It's just what you think. Actually Rice Krispie Treats with the marshmallow and all cut up into smaller pieces. Parents must've hated this.

Toni had a more adult choice. Special K with strawberries.

Christine picked Honey Nut Cheerios. I gave her a hard time about Cheerios being boring. She gave me a hard time that these weren't Cheerios. These were HONEY NUT Cheerios.

Janet loves Fruity Pebbles even now as an adult.

Lou shocked the room when he picked Kashi Organic Sweet Potato Sunshine. Why not just graze out in the garden if you want to be this healthy?

Sue and Carolyn both said King Vitamin was best. I'm sure parents felt quite smug with that in their carts.

Helen chimed in with Honey Smacks. (Does that mean she was smack talking us?)

And Rob's choice was Honey Nut Chex.
