The unofficial start of the summer season kicks off in New Jersey this weekend and on the show today we discussed a few different aspects of the holiday weekend.

One of the decisions that I made on the show today was that I will not be traveling on Monday. With a reported 800,000 drivers hitting the road this weekend, I will not be one of them or getting myself stuck in traffic with everyone coming home on Monday.

Also, Memorial Day weekend is a time to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Don't feel guilty if you don't do something overly-patriotic. Just keep all the servicemen in your thoughts and make sure your kids are aware of the importance of the day.

As many NJ residents gear up to head back to our beaches, Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty joined me on air to let everyone know that the town is giving all active military members and their family free access to the beach Memorial Day weekend and throughout the summer. The mayor says that the town beaches are ready for families to come from throughout New Jersey.
