Gunmen shoot up party at North Jersey bar, 5 people hospitalized

BLOOMFIELD — Authorities say five people were shot after gunmen opened fire on a bar in Essex County.

Police Director Sam DeMaio told NJ.com that three guns were used in the shooting outside of the Sports in the City Food & Lounge bar late Friday night.

DeMaio says the five people were being treated at University Hospital in Newark for injuries that were not life threatening.

The gun fire shattered the glass front door and side window of the bar. About 30 people were inside for a party when the shooting occurred.

One gun was found at the scene and police were interviewing witnesses. No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
