You'd think that in New Jersey, one of the larger towns would be the leader in the amount of revenue raised from handing out cell phone tickets, right? According to an article on Philly.com, Evesham Twp. handed out more tickets in a recent court year, thank Jersey City, which is 6 times larger than the South Jersey town.

While officials say that this is a safety issue, is it really? Are NJ towns really concerned with the safety of their residents or are they just interested in seeing the revenue that the tickets bring in.

Dennis thinks its ridiculous to promote this as anything but a money grab. If this was really about safety, there could be a hundred different ways of handling this than to add a monetary fine AND to make people show up in court regardless of whether they plead guilty or not.

What do you think? Are driving while on the cell phone tickets just a money grab? Does it really promote safety? Take our poll below.
