Update: An earlier version of this post mistakenly reported the Empire State Building was lit in France's colors Nov. 13, based on images sent to New Jersey 101.5. The images were not current.

New Jersey 1015.com apologizes for the error.

The Empire State Building in New York City was not lit in the colors of the French Flag — bands of blue, white and red — Friday night as terror attacks in Paris continued, though images spread broadly on social media claimed it was. A video posted to YouTube (seen above) made the same claim.

At least some of the images appear to have been from Jan. 11, when the Empire State Building displayed the French colors to honor the victims of an attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine office. That evening, the lights dimmed for five minutes of remembrance.

But Friday night, the spire of One World Trade Center was in fact lit in France's colors, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo said it would remain so for several days.
