At 91-years-old, Lavinia Cullison may have to take a driver re-exam. That's the request of Vineland police after what happened Tuesday afternoon. She hit another car, caused yet a different car to crash trying to avoid her, then hit the front porch of a house. Cops say she also blew through a stop sign in doing all this. Not bad for a few seconds work, eh? Oh wait, this isn't GTA. That's right, this is real life.

The driver of the other car that crashed was driven by an innocent 19 year old who was merely trying to avoid the out of control 91-year-old and slammed into a utility pole for her efforts after being run off the road. This crap has to stop. Why does a 91-yearold still have a driver's license? We don't even do an ounce of routine re-testing for elderly drivers, so I suppose talking about a mandatory driving retirement age will never fly. Still, the FAA has a mandatory retirement age for commercial pilots of 65 all in the name of safety. Is it that far fetched, that out of line, to ask we at least think about a driving retirement age of, say, 85?

Here's one of my favorite video montages of elderly drivers using buildings as parking spaces.
