Dena Blizzard dishes on the Miss America pageant

Long before Dena Blizzard was "One Funny Mother" and a viral video sensation with "Back To School Shopping" and "Chardonnay Go, she was a Miss New Jersey. Well not that long ago.... This year Dena hosted all the preliminaries for the pageant and shared her thoughts on both the winner Miss North Dakota Cara Mund as well as Miss New Jersey, Kaitlyn Schoeffel who was second runner up.

"I loved the winner!" says Dena of Mund, "she seemed so down to earth, not a pageant girl. Cara is the first Miss North Dakota to ever win Miss America. Quite an achievement! Miss New Jersey is amazing. We are so proud of her!!! She’s worked really hard to get there and so represented us so well."

For Dena, the real fun was the preliminaries. "I love watching Miss America get crowned but I get to host the preliminaries and they are so much more fun! I had the judges dancing around in underwear."

Dena also met some long time fans. "We met a 90 year old woman named Kay Wright, who has been to EVERY Miss America crowning since she was 7. She’s seen 84 Miss America’s get crowned, so we brought her on stage and had her picture taken with our former Miss America’s. It was so lovely. We gave her a two dollar crown and a sash that said, “84 Miss Americas… and all I got was this sash.” It was very funny and truly heartwarming at the same time. The Miss America Pageant has some hard core fans….it’s pretty awesome, as was Dena's prelim hosting!
