Crash into utility pole closes Route 1 in South Brunswick, NJ
SOUTH BRUNSWICK — An early morning crash on Route 1 closed the highway for the entire Friday morning commute.
Route 1 was shut in both directions around 3:30 a.m. between New Road and Route 522. The highway remained closed as of 10:30 a.m.
A picture from the crash scene shows a sheared utility pole with a tangle of wires near the ground.
The closure created long delays approaching the closure points and on roads leading away from Route 1.
South Brunswick police on Friday morning did not respond to New Jersey 101.5's request for more information.
