AAA-Mid-Atlantic spokeswoman Tracy Noble says they will get about 500 more calls for help from motorists on a day like today. And, she says, the majority of those calls are for a dead battery.
"At zero degrees, a car's battery loses about 60 percent of its strength, yet the engine needs about two times more power to start."
Noble says the wait time for service ranges anywhere from a half-hour to an hour. She advises drivers to think about critical components of their vehicle, such as the battery and tires before they become a problem.
