Bruce Springsteen is putting his opinion where his talent is. "The Boss" has teamed up with House Rocker Joe Grushecky on a new song titled "That's what Makes Us Great" which was released this morning by Grushecky on his website. It's basically a protest song about Donald Trump, whom Springsteen has called "a moron." This is something I called on Bruce to do back in February. I'd much rather hear that at his concert than an oral dissertation.

Once upon a time when rockers were upset about what was going on in their world they used their talent to express their opinions through their music. Those opinions gave us songs like Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth," Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son," you could even go as far back as Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land" which was written in response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America."

It's these protest songs that not only bring people together in unity but educate those that may not have know or appreciated the importance of the subject matter. The protest song has gotten lost over the years as big companies who own the media markets have been staying away from them. With all that's going on in the world and with all the talent that we have now to musically get the point across, let's hope they make a come back.
