The body of a man who went missing on White Meadow Lake in Rockaway on Sunday has been recovered.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office said the body of the 27-year-old man was found on Tuesday morning. The cause and manner of death are pending.

A canoe carrying two men early on Sunday capsized around 3 a.m. on the Morris County lake. The first officer on the scene, Rockaway police officer Jason Tozzi, used a canoe to  reach a 26-year-old man who police say was the only person they could see in the water. A search for a second man continued all day on Sunday and again on Monday. Helicopters, boats, divers and sonar equipment from the New Jersey State Police were all used as part of the operation.

The two men are being identified only as Rockaway residents by police.
