Parsippany police are searching for the person(s) responsible for stealing a statue of baby Jesus from the front yard of a residence.

According to the Parsippany Police Department's Facebook Page, a resident contacted police on Dec. 7 to report the theft. The caller told officers that an unknown suspect had stolen the baby Jesus statue from the nativity scene in her front yard.

Patrol Officer A. Clark was dispatched to the location and upon his arrival, he was informed by the victim that the theft happened between Dec. 6 and the time the theft was reported the following day.

"Witnesses reported a black vehicle driven by a male stopped in front of the victim’s house and placed an item into the vehicle at which time they left the area," police reported.

The statue is valued at approximately $80. This incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Investigative Division at 973-263-4313.
