As part of our "Salute to Seniors" feature, we at NJ 101.5 along with our Sponsorship Partner, American Senior Magazine, ask our listeners to nominate a very special senior each week.

David Gross, grandson of his week’s outstanding senior, Murray Hersh, has a lot to be proud of. And that’s why he reached out to us to nominate his grandpa for super senior this week.

At his age, Murray could easily sit around and play cards or allow himself to be catered to. But that’s not Murray!

Twice a week for the last 23 years since his wife passed away, he goes to Centra State Medical Center to volunteer — and everyone in the hospital knows him.

You may ask, how old is a guy who can keep up this pace; bringing comfort, dishing stories, offering advice and loving every minute of it. The answer? He's 91. Yup. That’s something we should all strive for.

Murray, let’s hope we all have the love and energy you do when we are your age. And may you be blessed with the strength to continue doing it for many years to come!

Tell us about your senior below. Submissions will be accepted through Nov. 21. Individual seniors will be selected by our staff and featured on-air and online once a week.

If your senior is chosen, he or she will be invited to New Jersey 101.5 for an upcoming commercial and invited to a luncheon at the the station.
