At $40,000,000, this may be the most expensive home in NJ (PHOTOS)

Sometimes, you just need a little room to yourself.

If that's the case, the 10 bedrooms and 8 baths (plus two half-baths) in this 14,000 square foot, three-story, four-garage grand chateau on Long Branch's Ocean Avenue may be for you.

But watch out — this is no starter home. It's being offered for $40 million (though Zillow suggests an estimated value of a little over $10 million — still not chump change, but a decent bit off the asking price).

It may in fact be the most expensive home being offered for sale in New Jersey right now, based on searches of several real estate listings. You'd better be ready for a high tax bill, as well — Zillow puts it at $171,153 on a $8,132,100 assessment in 2015.

As described by Diane Turton Realtors, the home is a "true masterpiece of French inspired architecture," designed by architect and designer Anthony Ingrao.

In the back, is a pool with two cabanas and two full baths leading into a 150-foot private beach. The home features a glass wall along the entire ocean.

Inside, you'll find limestone, marble, mosaic and onyx throughout the residence. There's a 2-story entrance, living room, formal dining, grand room, sun room and breakfast room, all of which open to the windswept terrace.

The front courtyard includes north and south two-story cottages.
