CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Prosecutors say a New York City woman sold heroin to a pregnant woman who died from an overdose.
Alycha Rodriguez is charged with strict liability of a drug induced death and other counts. She faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
Cape May County prosecutors say the 22-year-old Brooklyn resident was staying temporarily at a Middle Township motel when she allegedly sold the drugs to the 30-year-old woman, who was found dead Nov. 15 in Lower Township.
Her name has not been disclosed.
Authorities say that on the same day the pregnant woman died, Rodriguez used a knife to chase after two men who committed a robbery in her motel room. She's charged with aggravated assault and a weapons offense in that matter.
She was being held at the Cape May County jail with bail set at $1 million.
