A Helping Hand at Newark Airport
Newark Liberty International Airport just got a new customer service representative. But don't ask her any questions.
Passengers will be greeted by an avatar unveiled by the Port Authority Friday.
The avatar, Liberty, will recite a 90-second script that answers frequently-asked questions, such as how to find baggage claim.
Liberty, who is named after Newark Liberty International Airport, starts speaking any time a person comes within 30 feet of the avatar.
The image of a smiling woman in a red vest is located in the international arrivals area of Terminal B.
The Port Authority is spending $180,000 to place the machines at Newark, Kennedy and LaGuardia airports as part of a six-month pilot project.
