State Police are looking for the man who they say assaulted and carjacked an 82-year-old woman in the parking lot of a Burlington County supermarket.

The woman was sitting in the car with the keys as her 48-year-old daughter shopped at a Hainesport supermarket on Saturday night around 9:30,  State Police said.

Police said a man opened the door of the silver 2015 Toyota RAV 4, slapped the woman, pulled her out of the car and drove off.

The suspect is described as a black male standing 5-foot-8, weighing 170 pounds, with long braided hair. He was wearing a white Phillies baseball jersey, white pants and red shoes.

"The victim could be your mother or your grandmother. We can replace cars, but we can’t replace the fear and trauma that this elderly woman unnecessarily had to endure," State Police said on their Facebook page in a plea for the public's help.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Police Bordentown Station at 609-298-1171.
