7 new laws for NJ in 2022 that could cost you (Opinion)

Two things no one wants to see the ugly process of making: laws and sausage.

Since I don’t have the keys to a sausage factory let’s instead take a look at some new laws our esteemed legislators came up with which go into effect this new year.

Before we start, are you with me on the idea that we have way too many laws on the books and for every new one these clowns in Trenton pass they ought to eliminate one other? That pesky only-in-New Jersey one about banning self-serve gasoline might be a place to start.

Or how about eliminating some of these ancient laws that remain on the books and are irrelevant to today’s society?

Like the one that says “No horse shall be hitched or fastened to a pole carrying any wires, a public lamp-post...or to a water hydrant in a street."

Or the one that went into effect in 1877 saying every county courthouse in the state "must erect two substantial pillars on the same meridian line, not less than one hundred feet apart" to show "the true meridian running north and south” apparently so surveyors could use these to test compasses.

So what’s new for the new year?
