TOMS RIVER — Three school buses were destroyed by a fire in a storage lot early Friday morning.

Police say flames broke out around 2:40 a.m. in a lot on Industrial Way off Route 37 used by Toms River public schools, according to Toms River Police. A Ford F150 pickup truck was also burned. The lot is located in a commercial area behind a car dealership.

An officer noticed smoke in the area while on patrol and found the vehicles engulfed in flames.
